Veena’s car radio will run from a 12 V car battery that produces a current of 0.20 A evenwhen the car engine is turned off. The car battery will no longer operate when it haslost 1.2 x 106 J of energy. If Veena gets out of the car, leaving the radio on by mistake,how long will it take for the car battery to go completely dead, i.e. lose all energy?(1 day =86400 second)

Answer:

5.78 days

Explanation:

Given,

Voltage of car,V = 12 V

Current produces by the battery, I = 0.20

Total energy of the battery,

E\ =1.2\ \times \ 10^{-6}

Since, energy of the battery is given by, E =  voltage x current x time

                                                    =>\ 1.2\ \times\ 10^{-6}\ =\ 12\ \times 0.2\times \ t\\\\=>\ t\ =\ \dfrac{1.2\ \times\ 10^{6}}{12\ \times\ 0.2}\\\\=>\ t\ =\ 0.5\ \times\ 10^{6}\ s

Since, 1 day = 86400 s

So \ 0.5\ \times\ 10^{-6}\ =\ \dfrac{0.5\ \times\ 10^{-6}}{86400}\ days\ =\ 5.78\ days

so, the battery will lose all energy in 5.78 days.
