vegetables cost=500•40=20000 rupees

quantity washed away=1/4

so, cost of 1/4qunatity= {1/4 ×500}= 125 kg was washed.

so total quantity for sale=500-125=375 kg was left for sale.

the cost fixed by sales men=RS 60 per kg so 375×60=22500 RS.

so now we compare the cp and sp

so

cp=20000 and sp=22500

so hence we get the answer that he had a profit of 2500 rupees.

now we calculate p%

p=2500

so p%=2500×100/20000

=50%profit
