Vegetation is the indicator of the difference in precipitation. The area which has dense forests usually experiences high rainfall and area with grasslands or desert type vegetation experiences low rainfall. ii. This can also be indicated by Vegetation index

Examples of other indicators are rivers. lakes, temperature, humidity.

Scientists are interested in knowing how the vegetation of an area can be used for environmental study of Earth' s climate.

In this activity, the student will make a similar research.

For a selected location, the student will examine the possible relationships between the vegetation index, the precipitation or rain fall, and the ambient temperature data collected over several years time.

This information will help the student in deciding climate type, and will enable them to predict aclimate classification chart.
