Veins have valves which allow blood to flow only in one direction. Arteries do not have valves. Yet the blood flows in one direction only. Can you explain why?

Unlike arteries, veins contain valves that ensure blood flows in only one direction. (Arteries don't require valves because pressure from the heart is so strong that blood is only able to flow in one direction.) Valves also help blood travel back to the heart against the force of gravity.

Answer:

The walls of arteries are thick on the other hand the walls of veins are thinner so the pressure exerted by the blood on veins will be more. so the valves present in the veins prevent the back flow of blood (deoxygenated blood).
