In periodic table there are 18 groups right and each group specify the valency like

Elements of group no 1 has 1 valency and group 2 has 2 valency and group 3 has 3 as a valency

D block element are not in cbse syllabus so no need to learn

Coming to p block element it include grp 13 which again has 3 valency and grp 14 which has 4 and group 15 for this we subtract 5 from 8 which gives 3 and group 16 for which we subtract 6 from 8 which gives 2 and similarly group 17 has 1 and grp 18 has0 valency

hey there

In a period, the number of valence electrons increases (mostly for light metal/elements) as we move from left to right side. However, in a group this periodic trend is constant, that is the number of valence electrons remains the same.

hope it will help
