(u1/u2)=(v2/v1)

u/1=(3*10^8)/(1.5*10^8)

u=2

Given:-

  • Speed of light in air , c = 3 × 10⁸ m/s

  • Speed of light in medium ,v = 1.5 × 10⁸ m/s

To Find:-

  • Refractive index of medium ,nm

Solution:-

Using Snell's Law

• nm = c/v

where,

ng is the refractive index

c is the speed of light in air

v is the speed of light in medium

Substitute the value we get

→ nm = 3×10⁸/1.5×10⁸

→ nm = 3/1.5

→ nm = 2

Therefore, the refractive index of the medium is 2 .
