velocity of sound in a gaseous medium is 330m/s
. If the pressure is increased by 4 times
without causing a change in the temperature
the velocity of sound in the gas is
a) 330m/s
b)156m/s

we have,

The answer will be a) 330 m/s.

Change in pressure does not affect speed of sound in gas. This is because increasing pressure to 4 times also makes the density 4 times at constant temperature.

Formula of speed of sound is

 \sqrt{ \frac{</strong><strong>py</strong><strong>}{d} }

where y is poision's ratio.
