VENTILATION aka BREATHING
A. Contraction of the diaphragm muscle is the first event leading to inspiration. Discuss HOW the diaphragm is responsible for moving air INTO the lungs during inspiration. Include information in your discussion about the volume and pressure changes occurring in the lungs which lead to inspiration.
B. Relaxation of the diaphragm muscle is the first event leading to expiration. Discuss HOW the diaphragm is responsible for moving air OUT OF the lungs during expiration. Include information in your discussion about the volume and pressure changes occurring in the lungs which lead to expiration.

ciao,
during inspiration the air space inside the chest cavity is increased in two ways.
firstly the miscles of ribs contract and elevate the ribs upwards and forwards and
secondly the muscles of diaphragm also contract and diaphragm becomes less dome like .this downward movement of diaphragm and outward movement of ribs causes increase in the chest cavitt and reduces pressure .when pressure from the lungs is removed tgey expand. with the expansion of lungs vaccum is created inside the lungs in which air rushes from outside to inside due to higher atmospheric peeesure. this is inspiration
and in expiration
the muscles of ribs are relaxed and ribs move downward and inward . in this way the space of chest cavity becomes less . at the same time the muscles of diaphragm also relax becoming more domelike and chest cavity is also reduced from the floor . this reduction in space of chest cavity exerts pressure on lungs .when lungs are pressed the air inside lungs moves out of lungs .
i really hope that you will find it helpful. stay blessed☺
