Given:

Verification of commutative property of Rational  numbers on a graph sheet using color papers.

Solution:

Refer to an attachment of Rational  numbers on a graph sheet.

Commutative Property:

  • It is said to be the commutative property when there is a change in the position of rational numbers but it doesn't affect the result. It is applicable only to Addition and Multiplication.

For example, take two rational numbers and add them.

=> \dfrac{3}{4} + \dfrac{2}{3}

LCM of 4 and 3 is 12

=> \dfrac{9+8}{12} = \dfrac{17}{12}

Now, change the position of the rational numbers and add.

=> \dfrac{2}{3} + \dfrac{3}{4}

LCM of 3 and 4 is 12

=> \dfrac{8+9}{12} = \dfrac{17}{12}

There is no change in the result when we change the position of the rational numbers.

Hence, the commutative property of Rational  numbers is verified

Step-by-step explanation:

LCM of 3 and 4 is 12

= > \dfrac{8+9}{12} = \dfrac{17}{12}=>

12

8+9

=

12

17

There is no change in the result when we change the position of the rational numbers.
