a –(-b) = a + b is verified.

Given:

(i) a = 15, b = 9

(ii) a = 75, b = 55

To Verify:

a -(-b) = a + b

Solution:

Case (i):

a = 15 b = 9

L.H.S

a - (-b) = 15 - (-9) = 24

R.H.S

a + b = 15 + 9 = 24

As we can see L.H.S = R.H.S

Therefore, the equation is verified.

Case (ii):

a = 75 b = 55

L.H.S

a - (-b) = 75 - (-55) = 150

R.H.S

a + b = 75 + 55 = 150

As we can see L.H.S = R.H.S

Therefore, the equation is verified.
