so addition is associative for positive integers
a= -1
b=-2
c= -3
((-1)+(-2))+(-3)=(-1)+((-2)+(-3))
-1-2-3=-1-2-3
-3-3=-3-3
-6=-6
so addition is associative for negative integers also...
