Given :

Three Numbers

a=-12, b=5 and c=8

To Verify :

Distributive property of multiplication over subtraction

i.e. a(b-c) = ab - ac using the given numbers.

Solution :

•Distributive property of multiplication over subtraction is

a(b-c) = ab - ac

• It is given that a=-12, b=5 and c=8

• so ,

a(b-c) = -12(5-8)

a(b-c) = -12(-3)

a(b-c) = 36 _______ LHS

• Now ,

ab - ac = (-12)(5)-(-12)(8)

ab - ac = -60-(-96)

ab - ac = -60 + 96

ab - ac = 36 ________(RHS)

•Since , LHS = RHS

=> a(b-c) = ab - ac

Hence verified
