 Given \: polynomial \: p(x) = (x-1)(x-2)

i) If \: x = 1 \: then \: p(1) = (1-1)(1-2) \\= 0 \times (-1) \\= 0

 p(1) = 0

Therefore.,

 1 \: is \: a \: zero \: of \: p(x)

ii) If \: x = 2 \: then \: p(2) = (2-1)(2-2) \\= 1 \times 0 \\= 0

 p(2) = 0

Therefore.,

 2\: is \: a \: zero \: of \: p(x)

___________

 Given \: p(x) = x - 1

 If \: x = 1 \: then \: p(1) = 1 - 1 = 0

 p(1) = 0

 \therefore 1 \:is \: a \: zero \: of \: p(x)
