Step-by-step explanation:  a+b=b+a

a=3 ; b=-7/12

a+b=3+(-7/12)

=3-7/12

=36/12-7/12

= 29/12             (1)

b+a=-7/12+3

=-7/12=36/12

=29/12              (2)

from 1 and 2 we get,

a+b=b+a

Step-by-step explanation:

We know that a=3 and b= -7/12

We are given that a+b=b+a

Using commutative property of addition:

( Commutative property of addition states that  changing the order of the numbers which are being added, does not change the sum.)

Lets split the equation into two parts:

a+b.......................(i)

b+a.......................(ii)

we know that equation (i) equals to equation (ii)

Substituting the values of equation (i) & (ii)

equation (i) a+b

3 + (-7/12)

3 - 7/12

36-7/12

29/12=a+b

equation (ii) b+a

(-7/12)+ 3

- 7/12+3

-7+36/12

29/12=b+a

a+b=b+a                           [equation (i) equals to equation (ii)]

29/12=29/12

LHS=RHS
