 \frac{3}{5}  + ( \frac{ - 1}{7} ) = ( \frac{ - 1}{7} ) +  \frac{3}{5}  \\ lhs =  \frac{3}{5} -  \frac{1}{7}  \\  \frac{21 - 5}{35}  \\  \frac{16}{35}  \\ rhs =  \frac{ - 1}{7}  +  \frac{3}{5}  \\  =  \frac{ - 5 + 21}{35}  \\  =  \frac{16}{35}  \\ lhs = rhs

This can be verified by using Commutative Property under addition.

3/5 + [-1/7] = [-1/7] + 3/5
3/5-1/7 = -1/7+3/5. { Solving the brackets }
21/35 - 5/35 = -5/35 + 21/35. { Taking LCM }
16/35 = 16/35

• Hence proved

Hope it helps
