Step-by-step explanation:

x = -2/3

y = - 3/4

(x*y) - 1

= ( - 2/3 * - 3/4) - 1

= ( 6/12) - 1

= 1/2 - 1

= - 1/2

(x - 1)*(y - 1)

= (-1 + x) *(-1 + y)

= ( - 1 + - 2/3) * ( - 1 + - 3/4)

= { - 3 + (-2) / 3} * { - 4 + (- 3) /4}

= (-5/3)*(-7/4)

= 35/12

Therefore (x*y) - 1 is not equal to (x-1) *(y-1)
