hope this helps u

given

x = -2/3

y = -3/5

(x*y)= -2/5*-3/5

        = 6/25 note (-*- = +)

x-1*y-1 = -2/5 - 1* -3/5 - 1

lcm of 1,5 is 5

       = -2-5/5 * -3-5/5

           =  -7/5 * -8/5

              =       56/25

(x*y) = x-1* y-1

6/25 ≠ 56/25

it is not equal

Given :   Verify that (x * y)⁻¹  =  x⁻¹ * y ⁻¹     x=-2/3 and y =-3/5

To find :  Verify LHS = RHS

Solution :

Correct Question Would be

Verify that (x * y)⁻¹  =  x⁻¹ * y ⁻¹

x = -2/3

y = -3/5

LHS = (x * y)⁻¹

= ( (-2/3)  * (-3/5) ) ⁻¹

= ( 2/5) ⁻¹

= 5/2

RHS = x⁻¹ * y ⁻¹

= ( -2/3)⁻¹ * (-3/5)⁻¹

= ( -3/2) * (-5/3)

= 5/2

LHS = RHS

Verified

(x * y)⁻¹  =  x⁻¹ * y ⁻¹
