SOLUTION

TO DETERMINE

Verify the property : ( a + b ) = ( b + a ) for the following integers. i) a = - 12 and b = 25

EVALUATION

Here the given expression is

( a + b ) = ( b + a )

LHS = a + b

RHS = b + a

We need to verify for the integers a = - 12 and b = 25

Putting a = - 12 and b = 25 in LHS and RHS we get

LHS = a + b = - 12 + 25 = 13

RHS = b + a = 25 + ( - 12) = 25 - 12 = 13

∴ LHS = RHS

Hence verified

Additional Information :

The above mentioned property is called Commutative property under addition for the set of integers
