Verify the substitution that -

1)The root of 3x-6=x+2 is 4

2)the root of (x/3) + 8 = 12 is 12

3) the root of 5x - 11 = x + 9 is 5

Step-by-step explanation:

1) 3x-6=x+2

By the method of transposition, +x goes to the LHS and becomes-x and -6 become +6 when it goes to RHS

3x-x=2+6

2x=8

x=4

2) (x/3) + 8 = 12 is 12

By the method of transposition, +8 goes to the LHS and becomes-8

(x/3)=12-8

(x/3)=4

By the method of transposition, /3 goes to the LHS and becomes ×3 and

x=4×3

x=12

3)5x - 11 = x + 9

By the method of transposition, -11 goes to the LHS and becomes +11 and +x become -x when it goes to RHS

5x-x = 9+11

4x=20

x=20/4

x=5

1) x = 4 is the root of 3x/2 = 6.

Now, substituting x = 4 in place of ‘x’ in the given equation, we get

= (3 × 4)/2 = 6

= (12/2) = 6

= 6 = 6

2) x/3 + 8 = 12

= x/3 =12-8

= x/3 = 4

= x= 3×4

= x = 12

3) 5x−11=x+9

= 5x - x = 11 +9

= 4x = 20

= x = 20/4

= x = 5
