3x - 6 = x + 2

→ 3x - x = 2 + 6

→ 2x = 8

→ x = 8/2

→ x = 4 .

Hence , the root of the equation 3x -6 = X + 2 is 4 .

Verification :-

Putting x = 4 in the L.H.S. of the equation , we have ,

• L.H.S. = 3 × 4 - 6 = 12 - 6 = 6

Putting x = 4 in the R.H.S. of the equation , we have ,

• R.H.S. = 4 + 2 = 6

Since L.H.S. = R.H.S. , so root is 4

Given :-

  • The root of 3x - 6 = x + 2 is 4.

To find :-

  • Verify the substitution.

Solving :-

First we have to find the value of x.

» 3x - 6 = x + 2

» 3x - x = 2 + 6

» 2x = 8

» x = 8/2

» x = 4

Therefore, the value of x is 4.

Now, verifying :-

Putting the value of x = 4 in the equation ( LHS ),

  • 3 × 4 - 6 = 12 - 6 = 6.

Putting the value of x = 4 in the equation ( RHS ),

  • 4 + 2 = 6

Therefore, LHS = RHS.

Hence, verified!!!!
