Answer :

Given

  • A polynomial = p(x) = 3x + 1
  • And a value = \dfrac{-1}{3}

Find

  • To check whether it is zero of the given polynomial or not.

Solution :

The answer is quite simple.

  • Firstly, put x = \dfrac{-1}{3} in the given polynomial.
  • Then solve it to get the answer.
  • If the answer is equal to 0 than it is zero of the polynomial.

Substituting the values :-

p (x) = 3x + 1

p (x) = 3 × \dfrac{-1}{3} + 1

p (x) = -1 + 1

p (x) = 0

The answer is equal to zero thus, -1/3 is the zero of the polynomial p(x) = 3x + 1.
