Given:-

  • A(-2,3), B(4,2) andC (10,1)

To find:-

  • Whether these points are collinear or not

Solution:-

formula

=> \frac{1}{2} x1(y2-y3)+x2(y3-y1)+x3(y1-y2)

put value in formula

=> \frac{1}{2} . ×-2(2-1)+4(1-3)+10(3-2)

=> \frac{1}{2} . × -2(1)+4(-2)+10(1)

=> \frac{1}{2} . × -2-8+10

=> \frac{1}{2} × -10+10

=> \frac{1}{2} ×0

=0

hence ,these points are collinear

Extra information:-

  • colinear points are the points which lie on same line
  • Three points are collinear if the value of area of triangle formed by three points is zero

Thanks

hope its helpful
