Answer:

-1/3 is the zero of the polynomial p(x)= 3x+1

Step-by-step explanation:

Given polynomial  p(x) = 3x+1

zero of polynomial is the number value which give 0 on substituting in the place of variable of a particular polynomial

1) substitute x= -1/3 ⇒ p(x) = 3x + 1

                                p(\frac{-1}{3} ) =  3 (\frac{-1}{3}) +1

                                          = -1 +1 = 0

there fore  -1/3 is zero of the polynomial p(x)=3x+1

2) substitute x= 1/2 ⇒ p(\frac{1}{2} ) = 3 ( \frac{1}{2} )+1

                                            = \frac{3}{2} +1

= 5/2 which is not equals to 0

therefore  1/2 is not zero of the polynomial p(x)= 3x+1
