Answer:

(i) x=2/3,y=-5/6,z=-7/9

LHS = 2/3 + (-5/6 + (-7/9) =  2/3 + ( -5/6  - 7/9) =  2/3 + (-29/18) = 2/3 - 29/18

= 12/18 - 29/18 = -17/18

RHS = (2/3 + (-5/6) ) + (-7/9) =  (2/3 - 5/6) - 7/9 = (-1/6) - 7/9 = -1/6 - 7/9 = -3/18 - 14/18 = -17/18

LHS = RHS

(ii) x=-3/5,y=-7/10,z=-8/15

LHS = x+(y+z) = -3/5 +(-7/10 -8/15) = -3/5 (-21-16/30) = -3/5 - 37/30 = -55/30 = -11/6

RHS = ( x+y)+z = (-3/5 -7/10) -8/15 = (-6-7/10) - 8/15 = -13/10 - 8/15 = -55/30 = -11/6

LHS = RHS
