a stem tuber is formed due to thickening of rhizomes. They tend to form at the sides of the parent plant and are most often located near the soil surface.

Hello friend! I am glad to help you, here is the answer.

Stem Tuber ( eg. Potato):
>> It is an underground modification of stem.
>> The tips of the underground  branches of potato plant swell up due to storage of food material.
>> A tuber has distinct nodes called 'eyes'.
>> Each eye bears an axillary bud and a scale leaf.
>> Each axillary bud can grow into a new plant.
>> Stem tubers function as organs of perennation, storage of food and vegetative reproduction.

I hope this will help you. Thank you.
