very serious inherent problems. The first is accidental leakage, as occurred
callsea that the use of nuclear energy has two
in the Three Mile Island and Chernobyl incidents and the second is saf
disposal of radioactive wastes.
Radiation, that is given off by nuclear waste is extremely damaging
organisms, because it causes mutations at a very high rate. At high dose
nuclear radiation is lethal but at lower doses, it creates various disorder
the most frequent of all being cancer. Therefore, nuclear waste is a
extremely potent pollutant and has to be dealt with utmost caution.
It has been recommended that storage of nuclear waste, aft
sufficient pre-treatment, should be done in suitably shield
containers buried within the rocks, about 500 m deep below t
earth's surface. However, this method of disposal is meeting s
opposition from the public. Why do you think this method
disposal is not agreeable to many people?

I also do not agree with these method, if the shielding process is not done carefully, it may cause leak of radio active material. even if it is pre-treated it is potential to cause pollution. At 500 m deep not many life forms are found but it may interupt in many life process. contact with ground water with such hazardous materials may cause serious problems ,as ground water is free to flow.
