The Jallianwala Bagh massacre, also known as the Amritsar massacre, took place on 13 April 1919 when troops of the British Indian Army under the command of Colonel Reginald Dyer fired rifles into a crowd of Baishakhipilgrims, who had gathered in Jallianwala Bagh, Amritsar, Punjab.

The law and orders in Amritsar was handed by general Dyer who issued an order prohibited public meeting,he arest to public leader. The people were held in Jallianwala bag in against of arrest. Dyer block the narrow exit and orders to indiscriminate firing.thoylusand of people were killed and hundreds were wounded
