Answer:In case of ortho hydroxy benzaldehyde the position of NO2 group and OH group is so close so that they can easily form a hydrogen bond between O and H but para hydroxy benzaldehyde because of distance they can't from any bond so, water molecules easily attached with them

Para-hydroxy benzaldehyde is more soluble in water than ortho-hydroxy banzaldehyde due to the presence of intra-molecular hydrogen bonding in ortho-hydroxy benzaldehyde.
- The hydroxyl and aldehydic groups being close to each other in ortho-hydroxy benzaldehyde forms intra-molecular hydrogen bonds.
- Due to the formation of intra-molecular hydrogen bond there is lesser interaction of ortho compound with water while para compound is free to form hydrogen bond with water, hence the para compound is more soluble in water.
