Let the denominator be x.
Then the numerator would be x-1.
The fraction is x-1/x.

Now the numerator is added by 4 and so it becomes x+3.
And the denominator is added by 5 and so it becomes x+5.
The fraction is x+3/x+5.
The value of this fraction is 4/5.

x+3/x+5=4/5.

ON CROSS MULTIPLICATION:

5(x+3)=4(x+5).

ON OPENING BRACKETS:

5x+15=4x+20.

ON GROUPING LIKE TERMS:

5x-4x=20-15.

x=5.

The fraction we got in first = x-1/x.

On substituting the value of x, we get 5-1/5=4/5.

Therefore, the fraction is 4/5.

Let the denominator be x.

The numerator is 1 less than the denominator.

 \text{The fraction is }\dfrac{x - 1}{x}

.

The numerator is increased by 4 and denominator increased by 5:

 \text {The fraction is } \dfrac{x - 1 + 4}{x + 5}

.

The new fraction is equivalent to 4/5:

 \dfrac{x - 1 + 4}{x + 5}  = \dfrac{4}{5}

.

Solve x:

 \dfrac{x - 1 + 4}{x + 5}  = \dfrac{4}{5}

Combine like terms:

 \dfrac{x + 3}{x + 5}  = \dfrac{4}{5}

cross multiply:

 5(x + 3) = 4(x + 5)

Distribute 5 and 4:

 5x + 15 = 4x + 20

Subtract 4x to both sides:

 x + 15 =  20

Subtract 15 from both sides:

 x  =  5

.

Find the fraction:

 \text{The fraction is }\dfrac{x - 1}{x}

 \dfrac{5 - 1}{5} = \dfrac{4}{5}

.

Answer: The original fraction is 4/5
