8:5

Solution:

Vessel A ratio of milk: water = 2:3

Vessel B ratio of milk: water = 5:3

To make it proportional to each other cross multiply by their sum

then

Vessel A milk : water = 16x : 24x = 40x

Vessel B milk : water = 25x : 15x = 40x

ratio of water in A : B = 24x : 15x = 8: 5

Check

50 % of A : 40 % of B is taken out= 20x +16 x = 36x

resulting mixture contains 36 liters of water and 36 liters of milk. Total = 64 litre

36 x = 64

x = 2

Initial quantity of water content in A : B = 24x : 15x = 48 : 30 = 8:5
