Given : p + q = 5 , p - q = 7

To find : p

Answer :

p = 5-q ---------1

q = -7 - p ---------2

Putting the value of q from equation 2 in equation 1

p = 5 - (- 7 -p )

p = 5+7 -p

2p = 12

p = 6
