2x + 2y = 8

this implies 2(2x +2y) = 2 × 8

4x + 4y = 16

4x + 6y =6

4x + 4y - 4x -6y = 16 - 6

-2y = 10

y = -5

substituting value of y in 2x +2y = 8,

2x +2(-5) = 8

2x -10 = 8

2x = 18

x = 9
