After his return from Africa, Gandhiji founded as Ashram in Gujarath. The Ashram was opened to all the people to spin their own cloth. Most
of the people in those days were poor, they belonged to lower castes. Gandhiji admitted those people into his Ashram, lived with them and
ate with them. He called them Harijans which means 'people of God'. He said that all men are made equal by God and there should be no
differences
