it means that , all the sounds are produced by vibrations , for example when you strike a tuning fork on hard rubber , the metal starts vibrating and also makes the air particles to vibrate those vibrating air particles are sensed by our ears and then we hear any sound ,other examples can be - metal utensils falling on the ground ,etc
