let the side of square is x now ,
so area of garden = x^2
if length increased by 3 m
then it becomes x +3
if width increased by 1 m
then it becomes x+1
then new area is , ( x +3 ) ( x+1 )
according to given condition ,
( x +3 ) ( x+1 ) = x^2 + 19
x^2 + 4x + 3 = x^2 + 19
4x + 3 = 19
4x = 16
x = 4
so length of side is 4 m
so area of garden = x^2
if length increased by 3 m
then it becomes x +3
if width increased by 1 m
then it becomes x+1
then new area is , ( x +3 ) ( x+1 )
according to given condition ,
( x +3 ) ( x+1 ) = x^2 + 19
x^2 + 4x + 3 = x^2 + 19
4x + 3 = 19
4x = 16
x = 4
so length of side is 4 m
