View and counter view on children should be given the freedom to choose their friends
Answers
I COMPLETELY agree with the view, “Let kids of different races mingle” that parents should allow their children to mingle with their peers of different races or religions. That is why our Government introduced the “One Malaysia” concept.
Parents should encourage their children to choose friends of other races or religions. By doing so, they allow their children to adapt themselves to the multiracial society in our country, leading to a harmonious environment.
In recent times, our education system has been emphasising student-centred classroom lessons which incorporate various forms of group discussions and tasks. The children need to converse with each other to complete the tasks. This is the part most parents tend to overlook. Good teachers and classroom facilities alone will not help children to improve their academic performance. There has to be a harmonious classroom environment which can only be attained if the students are comfortable with one other.
Thus, dear parents, confining your child’s friends to just people of their own race or religion is unhealthy. Teach them to create a harmonious nation by encouraging them to make friends with peers of all races and religions.
Children should choose their friends by themselves:
Points of View:
A children should choose their friends from the beginning.
If they are being taught discriminating against people, they won't be able to evolve as a full human being when they grow up.
Also choosing your own friends gives you the understanding of people.
It also improves ones social skill.
Counter view:
The parents always worry whom their kids should be friends with or whom they shouldn't.
At some point their worry is justifiable.
They always want what's best for their kid.
Even if their fear of getting their kid spoiled is irrational at some point,
It might be true to some extent.
It is seen that most of the bad habits such as smoking or drinking is introduced to the kids by their fellow friends.
Also peer pressure can do damages to the kid at different level.
Basically kids need to choose their friends wisely as well as the parents need to take their of their controls.
