Friend: Congratulations, on winning the Nobel prize! It is an achievement indeed!

CV Raman: Thank you. Yes, an achievement that I really worked hard for.

Friend: So how do you feel, now that you have won it?

CV Raman: I am at peace with myself. I had been eyeing it for a while…

Friend: Did you know you would win it someday?

CV Raman: Of course! When one works with dedication towards one's goal, there is no reason why it cannot be achieved.

Friend: Yes, you are right.

CV Raman: But I must say that Lord Rutherford has been exceptionally helpful as well. He was the one who nominated my name for the prize.

Friend: That is very nice of him.

CV Raman: I think if you are committed, it shows. Then people also start showing confidence in you and try to help you as and when they can.

Friend: Your talent must have really shown through, which is why an Englishman took interest in your work.

CV Raman: Yes, I am lucky indeed. I also get to name the phenomenon after my own name!

Friend: So it's called the Raman effect?

CV Raman: Yes. Sounds a little funny, sharing your name with a physics phenomenon, but it is worth it.

Friend: Well, I am neither a physicist, nor half as learned as you, but I do know that just being with you is as amazing as the Raman effect!

CV Raman: Thank you, for your honesty. Your sense of humour is a lot more developed than mine. I wish there was a Nobel prize for that. I would have nominated you for it!
