Given : Vijay invested * 9000 in Tata Mutual Fund, when NAV was * 150.

He sold all his units when NAV touched 165.

To Find  : his gain in the transaction.

Solution:

Vijay invested * 9000 in Tata Mutual Fund, when NAV was * 150.

=> Number of units bought = 9000/150  = 60

Sold at NAV = 165

Amount Received = 60 * 165

= 9900

Gain = 9900  -  9000   = 900

Gain % = (900/9000) * 100  = 10 %

Gain in transaction = 900  or 10 %
