let the age of Deepika be x  years.

And the age of vikas be x + 3 years.

Deepika's age = x - 6 years

Vikas's age = x + 3 - 6 = x - 3 years

As per the Question,

x - 3 = 4 (x - 6)

⇒ x - 3 = 4x - 24

⇒ x - 4x = -24 + 3

⇒ -3x = -21

⇒ 3x = 21

⇒ x = 21/3

x = 7

Deepika's age = x = 7 years
