let his salary be x
he spent 78% of x = 78x÷100
saving =5500
total salary = saving + expenditure
x=5500 + 78x÷100
x=78x +550000÷100
100x =78x +550000
100x -78x =550000
22x = 550000
x= 550000÷22
x= 25000
therefore his salary is ₹25000
