Answer:

Hi,

Family owning a pet = 3/8 of the total

Family who don't own a pet = 1−3/8=5/8 of the total

Ratio = 38:58

Multiply each by 8= 3:5

So answer is 8= 3.5

Hope this helps

Answer:

3:5

Step-by-step explanation:

The simplest way to solve this is to -

First, we know that the fraction of people who HAVE pets is 3/8

So to find the remaining people who don't we simply subtract the numerator- 3 and the denominator- 8

So,  3 - 8 = 5 Therefore the FRACTION of people who don't have pets is 5/8 as 8 is the denominator which indicates the total number of people.

Next to find the ratio we simply take -

No. of people who have pets = 3/8

No. of people who don't have pets = 5/8

And since the numerators are 3 and 5 the answer is = 3:5
