Satmaliya Deer Park is situated at Dapada in the outer area of Silvassa on the Khanvel-Silvassa road. Satmaliya Deer Park is home to Chinkara, Blackbucks and spotted deer. The park is situated close to the Vasona Lion Safari and is a very popular picnic spot. Apart from different types of deer, the park has birds like Peacock, Flameback Woodpecker, Thrushes and many more. There is a watch tower inside the park from where you can enjoy a sweeping view of the park and the Mahuban dam.You can take government operated Gypsy van for a 30-min park tour. Only one van goes into the park in an hour, so it is advisable to reach the park early to escape a long queue for the tour. Also, only a limited number of tourists are allowed in the park every day to minimize noise pollution. The word ‘satmaiya’ means seven plateaus. It is, therefore, a huge park and is spread over an area of approximately 300 hectares. The best time to visit the park is from June to August as its lush green vegetation is at its best.
