Answer :
The phrase 'that virtue and success do not go side by side' has been taken from the poem 'The Person I Am Looking For
' by Hazara Singh.
The poet uses this phrase to express that there is a common perception among people that success cannot be achieved by following the virtuous path.
However, this is a wrong belief as such people usually end up in jail or are on the run. The true way of achieving success is by following the righteous virtues of hard work, patience, integrity, perseverance and honesty.
The spirit of this phrase means simply this ……
IF YOU WANT TO SUCCEED IN LIFE, YOU HAVE TO ADOPT MEANS WHICH ARE NOT VIRTUOUS….. MEANS WHICH ARE WRONGFUL.
Those, who succeeded without being virtuous, are either in jail like Bapu Asha Ram, Gurmeet RamRahim and the rest; or they are absconders like Vijay Mallaya, Nirav Modi and the rest.
A person may succeed by adopting means that are not virtuous. But, the success, so achieved, can not be long lasting.
It is wrong and very misleading to say.
