‘Vishnu Amrit Bhave’ was a Marathi playwright. He is considered the father of the Marathi Natya tradition. He was born on 9 August 1819 in Sangli, Maharashtra. He composed many types of plays in which Sita Swayamvar, Indrajit Slaughter and Raja Gopichand etc. are prominent. He died on 9 August 1901.
