Bathing of animals and humans, washing of clothes, sewage, human excreta.

  • Occasionally, chemical waste from industrial processes is unintentionally dumped into waterways. These contaminants include cyanide, mercury, zinc, lead, copper, cadmium, and others.
  • When these compounds enter the water, their concentrations can be so high that they instantly kill fish and other aquatic life. Pollutants can sometimes find their way into a food chain, where they can build up to dangerous levels and eventually kill mammals, fish, and birds.
  • River water is used in factories to cool down or power equipment. Chemically-laden dirty water is reintroduced to the river.
  • The soap and other liquids used to wash the animal's body get blended with the water when bathing animals in lakes and ponds. This pollutes the water. Same is the case with the bathing of humans in river or lake or ponds.
  • Washing of clothes also pollute water.
  • Human excreta is untreated and it contaminates water.

Hence, bathing of animals and humans, washing of clothes, sewage, human excreta contaminate water.
