Laxmi Agarwal is a famous woman in my community. She was a victim of an acid attack when she was a minor. She was barely 15 years old when we were attacked by a bunch of egoist men. Initially, she was depressed about the fact that there are burn marks all over her face and body. Her face had changed completely but she did not lose hope. She had difficulties in education as well. She founded her organization to help out the victims and the needy so that they do not have to face what she had been through. She had to struggle to get into a good educational institution so that she can make a living out of it. And eventually, she did. But due to her looks, people used to be scared of her. She indeed felt bad but they had learned the art of acceptance by then. She got her job and was treated the same but she did not lose hope and became an anchor. She was awarded the International Women of Courage by Michelle Obama back in 2014. She fought for the rights of women and started a campaign to stop the sale of acid. She holds the honor of receiving the International Women Empowerment Award from UNICEF IN 2019 for her commendable work in empowering women across the globe.
