The Anganwadi centre in my neighbourhood that I visited today was lovely and brimming with adorable kids. I basically visited to write a report about the centre. The things I that I made a report upon were:
i) Weekly menu of food cooked and served there
Fresh and healthy food is provided in the Anganwadi. Food with good amount of protiens and carbs are given to the kids. There is no wastage of food. The food is served in clean plates and glasses and is also washed properly.
ii) Hygiene and cleanliness during food preparation.
Maintains a good hygiene, clean cooking equipments and utensils. Food that requires cold storage are kept in the refrigerator. Food that is prepared for consumption is kept apart. Warm food is kept apart and all the eatables are kept covered. Fruits and vegetables are washed before providing. A good and healthy decoram is maintained in the kitchen.
iii) Number of children, their age and weight.
There is a total of 1200 kids all aged between 1-9 years. They stand at average heights for children their age.
iv) What are the children learning?
The children are provided with the basic knowledge necessary to have i that age. Children poems, songs,stories, etc are used to teach the kids of the smaller age and a little more advanced studies like course subjects such as basic English, Maths, Social Science, Science are taught to the bigger ones.
v) Who are the beneficiaries and what benefits do they get?
Anganwadi Services is one of the Government of India's flagship programmes, providing early childhood care and development of the beneficiaries, including children in the age range of 0 to 6 years, pregnant women, and lactating mothers, through a vast network of Anganwadi workers (AWW), or "helpers," and "AWWs" (AWH).

The children have improved their artistic and creative abilities as a result of their education at the Anganwadi centre.
