SSA – Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan was first started in 2001 in India and its aim was to give free education for children in the age group of 6 to 14.  They wanted to achieve this by 2010 “in a time bound manner”.  It has been achieved to an extent.  With the intervention of RTE Act, 2009, they were able to go into interior parts of India.

Here, I found that the parents are more aware of the RTE Act.  I was able to see children whose parents are earning less, studying in private schools at free of cost.  In Government and Government Aided schools, I could see children getting the benefits announced by the government apart from education.

Government school teachers are given training on how to teach effectively, holistic development of a child, etc.  These are all the part of SSA’s and RTE ACT’s priority.
