Dharmpada was distressed at this and concluded his life by jumping into the Chandrabhaga stream from the temple. Considered unholy thanks to his death that saved the lifetime of 1200 employees ,the ashtadhatu (alloy of 8 metals) statue of Surya stands till date without being worshipped!!
