Visual error in old age is known as Astigmatism.

Explanation:

  • One of the very common visual defect that occurs in the old age is astigmatism. This occurs due to development of different refractive index in different parts of the crystalline lens.
  • As a result the refractive index changes. This occurs in majority of the old aged people resulting in bifocal power in the eyes.
  • This can be corrected by surgical means or by spectacle correction. This is done by using cylindrical lens in the eyes.
